About Us...

The Friends of the Murrieta Library, a non profit organization, was formed on September 25, 1996 by Carol Kravagna and the late Dorothy Renon with the express purpose of bringing a library to the City of Murrieta.

The first library opened on April 10, 1999 in a 4,000 square foot former bank building on Los Alamos Road, with just 10,000 items, many of which were donations the Friends had collected. The Friends continued selling used books at the library, and an off site bookstore was opened in July 1999 in the same complex as the library. In July 2009, The Corner Bookstore expanded to 3100 square feet.

Less than 10 years after we first opened our doors, our new, beautiful 25,000 square foot Library has become a reality March 17,2007.  At present it houses over 80,000 books with many more coming every day.

A second bookstore, known as the Town Square Bookstore and located at the new Library, opened at the same time.  It is located at the Adams Street Entrance to the Library at Kalmia and Adams.

To date the Friends of the Murrieta Library has donated well over $100,000, a baby grand piano, a large wall mural installed near the entrance to the Library's Heritage Room and $25,000 for computers to the Murrieta Public Library, as well as countless volunteer hours.

We will continue to raise funds for the Book Collection, fund various programs throughout the year, be a major contributor to the children's Summer Reading Program and lend our support however we can as the need arises.
