The Board felt that it was time to upgrade the FOML Mission Statement, which has not been changed since the Friends created it ten years ago.  Upon reading the proposed wording of the mission statement, there was general approval:

As the Friends of the Murrieta Library, our mission is to

support the Murrieta Public Library through fund raising,

advocacy and volunteerism, and to promote awareness of

and support for the Library as it serves the informational,

educational, cultural and recreational needs of our Community.

Art invited everyone to think about the wording.  This is needed for the new website, which Julia Steedman is working on with Pat Farmer.  Go to www.murrietalibraryfriends.org and take a look at the draft version.

Luanne Ferrar, who is in charge of outreach, shared information on the reading program the Friends have in place for the school district’s Headstart program.  The Friends meet with 82 children every Wednesday, and are now working to add a homeschool group, also once a monthThey need one more reader for the rest of the year.

Art reported on the Farmer’s Fair booth, which is set up from 8:00 am to 1 pm every other Saturday at the Senior Center.
